Supermicro SATA DOM
SATA DOM is a small memory module that is simply and conveniently inserted into the server's SATA connector (yellow on generation X10 and newer motherboards). Supermicro developed SATA DOM as a small replacement for hard drives with sufficient capacity, extreme reliability, significantly higher performance, better latency and lower power consumption at the same time.
A reliable helper
Thanks to the optimized design of the Supermicro SATA DOM, it does not require an additional power supply, which increases performance and reliability. However, it is still backwards compatible with older server boards requiring this 5V power cable. It is designed to be used as a disk bootloader, operating system installation disk, backup recovery device, license disk, OS installation device (replacing CD / DVD-ROM disks), built-in system storage element (it is also suitable for very demanding environments where the mechanical hard disk drive may have failed).
